Kyriakos Maniatis

Ramakrishna Y B

Kyriakos worked under various functions in the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission (DG ENER) from 1988 up to his retirement as Principal Administrator in April 2020. He was responsible for innovation and technical issues related to biomass, bioenergy, and biofuels. He regularly contributed to the legislative actions of the Commission regarding bioenergy and biofuels. Kyriakos led the Commission’s standardisation initiatives for liquid and gaseous biofuels. Kyriakos undertook several initiatives in close coordination with the industry for the market deployment of advanced biofuels, including setting up the European Biofuels FlightPath in Aviation in 2011 and the Alternative Renewable Transport Fuels Forum (ART Fuels Forum) in 2017. He also led the work of the Sub-Group on Advanced Biofuels (SGAB) of the Sustainable Transport Forum.

Kyriakos also represented the EC in the Executive Committee of IEA Bioenergy TCP up to his retirement and served as the ExCo Chairman in 2002 and from 2005 to 2007. As of 2014 Kyriakos has been the Industry Coordinator in the annual EU Biomass Conference and Exhibition. He is Co-Chair of the EU-India Stakeholder Croup on Advanced Biofuels and leads the Low Carbon Biofuels Forum. Since his retirement Kyriakos acts as an independent international consultant

Ramakrishna Y B has been a key figure in India’s biofuels sector, contributing significantly to policy development and strategic initiatives. As the Former Chairman of the Working Group on Biofuels under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, he played a crucial role in shaping national policies, defining regulatory frameworks, and designing programs to promote the adoption of biofuels as a sustainable energy alternative. His expertise extends beyond policymaking, as he actively advises technology companies, startups, and investors on the commercialization and deployment of advanced biofuels, second-generation ethanol, and waste-to-energy solutions. Currently serving as Senior Vice President of the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE), he continues to drive innovation and investment in the renewable energy sector, advocating for greener and more sustainable fuel solutions. With a deep understanding of policy, technology, and market dynamics, Ramakrishna Y B brings invaluable strategic insights to the Advisory Board of AlfaFuels, supporting its mission to advance biofuel innovations and accelerate the transition towards a cleaner energy future.

AddScience Sweden AB conducts contract research and development, analytical and consulting services for industry and society, as well as public research with a focus on sustainable transition and bio-based products. AddScience specializes in chemical problem solving in the material, product and process areas, where we combine our knowledge and experience with both classical and state of the art analytical chemistry tools, such as GC-MS, in-house designed instruments and test rigs.
