NEW ENGINEERED CYANOBACTERIAL STRAINS DELIVERED TO ALFAFUELS PARTNERS
ALFAFUELS has completed Milestone M4, delivering a new generation of engineered cyanobacterial strains developed to support the photosynthetic production of isoprene. Following their initial assessment, selected strains have been transferred to project partners for use in activities related to cultivation, process integration and downstream conversion.
This achievement represents an important step in strengthening the biological foundation of the ALFAFUELS production pathway. The newly developed strains combine promising isoprene production with the stability required for continued testing, enabling project partners to assess their performance under different cultivation conditions and at larger experimental scales.
The delivery of the strains will support closer integration between the biological and technological stages of the project. By making improved biological resources available across several work packages, ALFAFUELS is advancing towards a coordinated process in which CO₂ is converted into renewable intermediates for the future production of sustainable aviation fuels.
