THE SUSALGAEFUEL PROJECT, NEW MEMBER OF THE SUSTAFUELS CLUSTER

SUSALGAEFUELS has recently joined the SUSTAFUELS cluster, a collaboration of several European projects aimed at advancing sustainable fuel solutions and reducing the dependency on fossil fuels. The cluster, initially formed by projects such as COCPIT, FUELGAE, and ALFAFUELS, now gains momentum with the inclusion of SUSALGAEFUELS. Each initiative brings unique expertise and technology to develop environmentally-friendly fuel alternatives for the transportation sector that address pressing climate challenges.

The SUSTAFUELS cluster focuses on leveraging advanced technologies, including microbial fuel production, solar-powered photochemistry, and microalgae cultivation. By integrating these approaches, the cluster aims to create a sustainable fuel source that could transform the transportation sector as well as maximising efforts and impacts in the communication and dissemination strategies.

SUSALGAEFUELS specifically addresses the ambitious European Union target of raising Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) use from 2% in 2025 to 64% by 2050. Through innovative methods such as waste treatment, digital sensors, cascading biorefinery processes, and multifunctional catalysts, the project aims to overcome the technological limitations currently hindering microalgae-based biofuel production. By accelerating commercial viability and boosting cost-effectiveness, SUSALGAEFUELS promises to be a critical player in the journey towards greener aviation fuel solutions.

Welcome on board SUSALGAEFUEL!
