ALFAFUELS HELD ITS ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING IN ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK, SWEDEN

From 29th to 30th January 2025, ALFAFUELS successfully hosted its annual General Assembly Meeting in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, at the facilities of RISE, the coordinating entity of the project. The event gathered key consortium members to review the progress and achievements of the initiative, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The first day was dedicated to an in-depth presentation of the developments across all work packages. These included model-driven optimisation of jet fuel precursor production from CO2 in cyanobacteria, model-driven optimisation of the co-production of hydrogen and starch in microalgae, development of a photochemical process for jet fuel production, and products recovery and optimisation of photochemical processes. Experts from each sector provided valuable insights into the advancements and challenges within their respective domains.

On the second day, the entire consortium had the opportunity to visit the RISE facilities, where they observed the photoreactor currently under development as part of the ALFAFUELS project. Additionally, attendees toured SEKAB, a renowned green chemical company specialising in the production of biobased chemicals, biorefinery processes, and zero-waste solutions. These visits offered a closer look at cutting-edge technologies contributing to sustainable fuel production.

Throughout both days, the team recorded the first official video of the project. In this production, the leaders of the technical work packages elaborated on the groundbreaking innovations behind ALFAFUELS, highlighting the project’s potential to drive forward sustainable aviation fuel solutions. The event marked a significant milestone in the project’s journey, reinforcing the commitment to developing environmentally friendly alternatives for the future.
