ALFAFUELS CELEBRATES ITS KICK-OFF MEETING IN UPPSALA
The Kick-off meeting of the ALFAFUELS project marked a significant milestone as 14 partners convened in Sweden, hosted by Uppsala University. The purpose of the gathering was to delve into discussions regarding the planned activities, anticipated challenges, and potential obstacles throughout the project’s lifecycle. This collaborative initiative, funded under Horizon Europe, focuses on advancing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) technology, aiming to diminish aviation’s dependence on fossil fuels. ALFAFUELS addresses critical issues such as elevated production costs and sustainability concerns, incorporating groundbreaking approaches like microbial fuel precursor production and solar-driven photochemistry.
The project’s overarching goal is to attain Technology Readiness Level 5, a milestone achieved through the implementation of innovative bioreactors, pilot-scale trials, and strategic industry collaborations. With a holistic approach, ALFAFUELS aims to accelerate the upscaling of sustainable aviation fuel technologies, contributing to the aviation industry’s broader transition towards environmentally friendly practices.
The gathering in Sweden provided a platform for the diverse consortium of partners to align their efforts, share expertise, and forge a collective path toward realizing the ambitious objectives of ALFAFUELS. The University of Uppsala’s hospitality played a crucial role in fostering an environment conducive to fruitful discussions and collaborative planning for the successful execution of the project’s objectives.
