ALFAFUELS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MARKED TWO YEARS OF PROGRESS

The ALFAFUELS consortium held its General Assembly online to celebrate the project’s second anniversary and to take stock of progress across the full technical programme. The meeting provided a shared overview of achievements to date and ensured alignment on the next steps towards sustainable aviation fuels produced from CO₂-based pathways.

Work Package updates covered the complete innovation chain, from model-driven optimisation of jet fuel precursor production in cyanobacteria (WP1) and biorefinery and zero-waste processing (WP2), to microalgae-based co-production routes (WP3). The programme also reviewed advances in photochemical jet fuel production (WP4) and product recovery and process optimisation (WP5), supported by model-based process optimisation activities (WP6) and ongoing scale-up work (WP7). Sustainability assessments (WP8) were also discussed to ensure environmental and wider impact considerations remained integrated throughout development.

In addition, the General Assembly included a dedicated session on dissemination, communication and exploitation (WP9–WP11), alongside project management coordination (WP12). The consortium also carried out a risk assessment workshop and jointly prepared the next steps for the upcoming six months, reinforcing the project’s shared commitment to delivery, impact, and long-term exploitation of results.
