ALFAFUELS AT THE IUPAC 10th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GREEN CHEMISTRY

From October 18 to October 22, 2024, the 10th IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry was held in Beijing, China to discuss the latest ideas about green chemistry, carbon neutrality, and sustainable development. The main topic revolved around Green Chemistry for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development and brought together several stakeholders from academia, research, industry, NGOs and, policy makers.

There, Sindhujaa Vajravel, postdoc and member of the Ottosson Group (part of Uppsala University) presented her results on photobiological-photochemical formation of isoprene dimers for Sustainable Aviation Fuels from CO₂, water & sunlight achieving a 21% efficiency for photochem under the Swedish sun!

The conference included several activities such as oral presentations, discussions, and poster presentations among other activities. It was a great event to change fruitfully ideas as well as to disseminate the ALFAFUELS initiative which seeks to develop sustainable jet fuels from CO₂ by micro-algal cell factories in a zero-waste approach.
